That’s
right folks, you didn’t think we’d make it, but we did. Latch Out Loud turned one year old exactly one day ago. Sometimes I feel like the blog was born yesterday.
One year. Think of all the memories, right?
One year. Think of all the memories, right?
Well,
that’s exactly what we’re gonna do to commemorate this special occasion. Each
of the five regular bloggers has been secretly assigned to comb through one of
their colleague’s posts from the past year with the task of selecting their favourite work. We’ll post the reviews over the next few days, and then
(permitting that one of us can figure out how to actually do it) we’ll put up a
poll on the blog, and the readers (if there are actually any of you left out
there) can vote to pick the post of the year.
So
without further ado, Dusty Daley is going to present his take on CC’s finest
work.
(But
before we get this thing officially rolling, I’d like to also wish a very Happy
Birthday to my Aunt – and loyal L.O.L. reader – Carole, whose actual birthday is today. Happy birthday!)

Picking the best blog entry from CC/Ceci/SeeSee/SiSi is a lot like picking a mate.
Before making a selection, you must carefully scan all
options. Long blogs, short blogs,
big-breasted blogs. All must receive equal consideration.
Each blog must be analyzed meticulously in an attempt to
uncover even the most insignificant of flaws. Because if you are gonna spend
more than one day with this blog, you better be damn sure it isn’t secretly
racist or farts in its sleep.
After a (Henry) thorough search (and I mean that, I spent an
entire morning at work scanning these blogs and preparing this post,
much to the chagrin of the colleague/rival who closely monitors my effort level at
work) I have chosen my favourite blog post offered up by the ever erratic, frequently
funny, often offensive, habitually horny- the one, the only C fuckn' C….
But before I announce a winner, let me present the three
finalists….
On The Issue Of... (Sept. 2, 2011) - Masterfully written and delightfully incoherent, this post lacks a purpose and that's what I fuckin' love about it.
Cooper St., Round 2: The Sequel (Jan. 11, 2012) - CC's contribution to the Apartment Swap series will go down in history. Pigeons, pillows and prose. Perfect.
The Week That Was... (May 2, 2012) - More than a summary, this post brought the blog back to life. Boiz were travelling, but Ceci was at home blogging. And man did he blog. Comes in like a lion, and out like...a lion.
It wasn’t an easy decision, but the winner of CC’s post of the year is….”The Week that Was”.
I like
this post best because it’s about the boiz, and I like the boiz. In some ways
it reads like a recap of the three-way but with CC-brand wit and sarcasm
plugged in. While the rest of us were scattered across the globe, CC was back home, thinkin' bout the boiz and takin' care of the blog. An excerpt;
“That's a lie, but I was a busy cat while all this was going
down, and figured the best thing to do when the boiz are out of town, and the
cider doesn't taste as sweet, and the card table is empty, and the 3 way is
silent, and the streets are unfriendly, is to hold that shit down.”
And hold it down he did. Well done, CC.
