Lad of the Week

As some of you may have noticed, productivity at Latch Out Loud Enterprises has dipped markedly in  February. After a prolific month of January that saw the publication of gripping tales from Apartment Swap 2012 and the classic piece The Five Degrees of Dale, the boyz have become somewhat complacent. There has been much speculation as to what exactly caused this slump. Internet rumours swirled about CC defecting to the Barbados. TMZ reported that kcerwd had
forsaken the latches and was spotted several times hobnobbing with rival bloggers from across town. Henry Thorough was quoted in a drunken and rambling interview with the Ottawa Sun, claiming that he planned to "give up the blog to write fantasy novels." Dusty Daley was AWOL for days until unexpectedly popping up to post a one word epic just last week. Anyways, all this is to say that the blog is not dead, we've just been busy with some off-line business. Look, I'd love to be blogging every day, but trying to settle a harassment suit with the ex-wife is proving a little more onerous and time consuming than I thought it would be.

Now, in an attempt to breathe some life into the blog, the boyz are embarking on a new endeavour. After much deliberation (an approximate 20 second exchange of slurred enthusiasm late Friday evening), we've decided to roll out a brand new weekly feature that puts the spotlight on well-known and everyday latches that went the extra mile over the past week. It's called Lad of the Week, and it starts right now.

The inaugural selection for Lad of the Week is none other than the amazing, the dazzling, the mesmerizing...Captain Canada...Nashty...Steve Nash!

Nash was confused when informed he was selected
as the first ever "Lad of the Week"

Now we all know  how much of a legend our friend Steve is. Born in South Africa and raised on the west coast of our very own country, he's a two-time NBA MVP, honourable member of the Latchhood, renowned philanthropist, and an all-around funny dude. Those are all worthy accomplishments, but let's take a look at the week that was for Mr. Nash.

He led a bombed out and depleted Phoenix Suns team to a 3-1 record over the course of the week, including some late-game heroics in Milwaukee where he made the game winning shot on his 38th birthday. He was named to the NBA All-Star team for the eighth time in his career, and also managed to avoid referring to himself in a complimentary manner while speaking in the third person.

Kudos to you Steve Nash. Now go have yourself a coupla drinks...but not too many. You don't wanna be caught on camera doing this again...
